Curriculum

Mt Eliza Primary School provides a comprehensive and balanced curriculum with many extra curricula activities available to your children. In 2009 the school classroom structure is straight grades from Prep to Year 4 with six combined Year 5 and 6 classes. Classroom programs are supported by specialist programs in Physical Education, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, LOTE (German), Extension and Enrichment, Reading Recovery and Special Assistance programs. Classes are also timetabled for a weekly library and computer laboratory session taken by the classroom teachers. Instrumental music lessons are provided to students from Year 3 upwards. We have an extensive camping program with a new Year 3 Urban Camp that began in 2008.

The Enrichment Program is provided to students from all year levels that meet the criteria. 120 students attend this program and are engaged in activities that enrich their learning. The ‘Stepping Out’ group is a cross age group of 16 students from Years 1 to 6 who work together to challenge each other even further.

A very strong feature of Mt Eliza Primary School continues to be the dedicated teaching staff and the high level of parental involvement in school programs and operations.

Children from Year 1 to Senior School at Mt Eliza Primary School have the opportunity to participate in the weekly Religious Education Program offered by the Council for Christian Religious Education. Staff supervise these sessions under duty of care responsibilities.

In 2008 MEPS attained Performance and Development Culture accreditation.
